Daily Brush Pick-Up

April 1 - May 31

The Village provides daily brush pick-up service for Village residents from April 1 through May 31. Acceptable brush includes tree and shrub branches less than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 8 feet in length. Brush should be neatly stacked curbside and kept free of leaves, grass, dirt, and other debris. Collections are generally completed within one week.

Brush Pick-Up Does Not Include:

  • Yard clearing
  • Tree removal
  • Tree trunks or stumps
  • Leaf piles

Summer Brush Pick-Up

2nd Monday's of July, August & September

Village residents may place brush curbside beginning ten (10) days prior to the second Monday of July, August, and September for scheduled summer brush collection.

Please ensure all brush is placed curbside before Monday morning, as the Highway Department will make only one pass through the Village during each collection period.

Daily Leaf Pick-Up

October 1 — November 30

The Village provides curbside leaf collection for Village residents during the fall season. Please place leaves neatly curbside for collection and keep all piles off sidewalks and roadways.

Leaves Only — No Brush, Grass, or Other Debris

Materials other than leaves can damage Village equipment and clog storm drains. Leaf piles containing brush, branches, grass clippings, or other debris may not be collected. The Village reserves the right to remove contaminated piles and assess a removal fee to the property owner.

REMINDER

BRUSH & LEAF pick-up is NOT an ongoing service offered throughout the year.

You may compost yard waste or bring it to the Town of Washington Transfer Station for disposal.

Transfer station passes may be purchased at the Town of Washington Town Hall located at 10 Reservoir Drive.

Snow Ordinance

December 1 — March 31

Parking is prohibited on all Village streets from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM, December 1 through March 31, to allow for snow removal and street maintenance.

Any vehicle obstructing snow removal or street cleaning operations is prohibited and may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Residents are encouraged to make alternate parking arrangements during overnight winter weather events.

Christmas Tree Pick-Up

January 1 — January 31

During the month of January, Village residents may place live Christmas trees curbside for collection. Please place trees neatly alongside the curb and not in the roadway. All decorations, lights, tinsel, ornaments, and tree stands MUST be removed prior to pick-up. This program is for live trees only — artificial trees will not be collected.

PARKING IS PROHIBITED on all Village streets from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM starting December 1st thru March 31st. Obstruction of snow removal and street cleaning is prohibited. Violators will be ticketed.

The Village Highway Department will pick-up trees beginning January 1st through January 31st weather permitting. There is no set schedule for this program.

Residents must place their live trees curbside for pick-up. Please do not place trees in the road. This program is for LIVE trees only. No artificial trees will be picked up.

DO NOT leave ornaments or lights on trees
Please note that everything must be removed from the tree in order for it to be picked up. We will not accept trees still containing decorations, tinsel, lights, tree stands or other items.

DO NOT put trees out prior to snow storm
If you are aware of a snow storm coming please wait until after clean up is finished. If the tree is buried in the snow we will not dig it out to remove it.

The Village Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Village’s public infrastructure and municipal facilities. The department provides essential services including street maintenance and repair, snow and ice removal, leaf and brush collection, lawn and grounds maintenance, and the upkeep of public spaces throughout the Village.
