Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

January 2021 – New Water Treatment Facility Activated

The Village of Millbrook is proud to announce that our upgraded water treatment facility officially became operational on January 5, 2021. This milestone marked the completion of a multi-year improvement project designed to enhance the quality, reliability, and long-term sustainability of the Village water system.

As part of the project, a new advanced filtration system was added to the original water treatment infrastructure. The upgraded system improves water treatment capabilities, strengthens system efficiency, and helps ensure the continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to Village residents and businesses.

The water system improvements were part of a $1.9 million investment that began in 2018. In addition to the new filtration equipment, the project also included the refurbishment of the Village’s water storage tank in 2019, extending the life of critical infrastructure and improving overall system performance.

These upgrades represent the Village’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and modernizing essential public utilities while preparing the water system to meet future community needs.

ADA Intersection Project

08-24-2017

Removal and Replacement of trees at the intersection of Franklin Ave. and Church Ave.

Five trees will be removed from the intersection of Franklin Ave. and Church Ave. this fall. This is all part of the effort to make the intersection ADA compliant by redoing the sidewalks in front of Millbrook Deli, McLaughlin’s, Forza Fitness and Trattoria San Giorgio Restaurant.

The funding for this project is largely due to a grant – Community Development Block Grant – awarded in 2016. Four trees will replace those removed in the spring of 2018 with funds from private donors.

The type of trees and method of planting will be given careful consideration to avoid heaving. A new tree – a gingko – has been donated and is being planted in front of George T. Whalen Real Estate at the beginning of October but is not a part of the ADA project.

Well Drilling

10-05-2016

The long awaited bedrock well drilling, one of the alternative solutions to resolving the GWUDI issue is seeing some progress, reaching a final depth of 700 feet the well is producing 160 plus gallons per minute. As Mark, the owner of Northern Drilling, said “this is a great well, nice clear water.” The first well is a ‘test well’ to determine quantity and quality. If quality is determined to be acceptable by the Dutchess County Health Department (DCHD), the well will become a production well and the quantity that the well produces will determine if we drill one or two more wells. If the Village is able to go to a bedrock well system (preferred by DCHD) we plan on keeping the existing infiltration system with its function to be determined at a future date.
